Instead of a dashing victory against the Boer Commandos, the British troops in the Cape Colony and Natal found themselves trapped in several towns: Mafeking, Kimberley and Ladysmith. WebThe Ladysmith Siege Museum is dedicated to the four month siege of the town of Ladysmith, South Africa, during the Second Anglo-Boer War. From 30 October 1899 to 29 February 1900, British forces were trapped in the town, with the siege only ending when British relief forces arrived, including a young Winston Churchill.
