WebMilitary History. In 1904, Lt.-Colonel George Holden HUTTON of the 23rd Royal Welch Fusiliers resided in Thorney Hall. He was born in Lincolnshire in 1845. His death was recorded in 1908. The hamlet of Wigsley is a "Thankful Village", having sent 7 lads off to war in world War One and all returned alive. The use of most of the building as a village hall and social resource for the villagers is a relatively recent development, as the Bedford Hall was only named and opened in April 1981.
